Friends.

I was thinking about friends today. I realized that most of my friends are family and the rest I’ve never really actually met. Now before you shake your head and go woah, does this girl ever leave her bunker?? It’s not that weird. Yeah, I can see you shaking your head and going yes, yes it’s very weird. But it’s not. Really. And I am going to tell you why.

But first, what brought me to my realization…So I was on Facebook last night, as usual, I swear if I could have an electronical device attached to my hand…oh wait, I pretty much already do. So anyway, I’m IMing (that kind of rhymed, I know you are probably rolling your eyes and thinking would she get on with it already, sorry easily distracted tonight, back to my realization) with my cousin, who also happens to be my friend, and we were just going on and on about anything and everything until about 1:30 in the morning, when we both look at the time and realize yes, it is that late and yes, we do need to sayonara (and yes that is a word) for the night. So as I am signing off, I realize that while yes, I know people, I am friendly with them, my friends, the ones that know about me and my life are my family and internet peeps.

I think it’s partly cuz’ I don’t really like people very much. I know, I know, you are back to rolling your eyes, but seriously…I like people, I just don’t like them. For all of you out there that don’t like people but do, you totally get what I am saying. For all of you highly social individuals, I am sorry that you have no idea what I am talking about. I feel bad for you.

I prefer people on Facebook, my Blogs, Twitter even and I kind of don’t like Twitter (possibly cuz’ I have no idea what I am doing on it, but I digress). Internet peeps are the best. They are always up at random times of the night, they don’t know, you know, know, your annoying life. You can talk to them about anything and they don’t judge, nope, cuz’ they are busy talking about anything too. I love my internet book world peeps. They are the best, yes they are. ♥

So, now I am probably making myself sound like a weird loser that sits in her bunker knitting her dog sweaters and chatting online with other losers that knit sweaters for their various pets. Not true. I just prefer to not spend hours upon hours with large amounts of human contact, mostly.

I don’t even really like to answer my phone, I prefer text. Texting is good. Texting means that if you don’t want to listen to someone complain and whine about their life, guess what – you don’t have to. And if you are about to get asked to do something you absolutely do not want to do, not in a million freaking years, but if you are like me and you lose the ability to verbally communicate the word no when asked to do the thing you don’t want to do, well texting makes it possible to a) ignore said text and respond to it at a later time, when the horrible experience can no longer be experienced or b) you can type the word no, proving that even if your vocal chords don’t work your thumbs do! I admit that 75% of the time I don’t answer my phone, okay closer to 90% of the time. It’s nothing personal, really, I think….I just don’t like people, but I do….ugh, so complicated.

Okay, now here is my reasoning for why my family are also my friends. They can’t get rid of me and I can’t get rid of them, trust me I’ve tried (not very hard trying but still…). You are born into your family, and if you are lucky, you either have siblings or cousins or both that are close to your age. Built in besties. They can never leave you, not really. Even when you are a pain in the keister and refuse to answer your phone (like me!) or you display your anti people personality.

To all of my family, I thank you for putting up with my crazy (kinda, some of you could do a better job, I mean seriously, I put up with your crazy!) and to all of my Internet Book loving peeps – I ♥ you all.

With that, I hope you all have someone that you call friend, whether they are family, someone you’ve never actually laid eyes on, or the awesomely fantastic lady who lives in a bunker and knits kitty clothes 🙂

xoxo,

Black Sheep Girl

And in the spirit of this post I give you one of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite shows. May we all have a person, if not one, many….
